The high altitude hiking trails in Kühtai - Sellraintal such as the Sellrain valley hiking trail with avazing views along an altitude line of 2.000m, the Peter-Anich high altitude hiking trail or the high altitude trail with Knappenhaus (minor's house) and Erzmühle (ore mill) offer an outstanding hiking experience in the Tyrolean Alps.
The "Sellraintaler Höhenweg" high altitude trail
The "Sellraintaler Höhenweg" is a high altitude trail (usually at an elevation of approx. 2.000m / 6560ft) connecting St.Sigmund with Oberperfuss. If you decide to hike this trail, you will be rewarded with stunning scenery and magnificent views of the Sellrain Valley, its side valleys and the Inn Valley. The path, about 15 km/9.3 miles long, leads through the alpine pastures and meadows of the "Haggener and Peider Sonnenberg" mountains. It continues through the flanks of several mountains ("Koflerspitzen" and "Weißenstein") until reaching the slopes of "Rosskogel", where the trail starts its descent to Oberperfuss.
Serviced mountain lodges on the trail:
- Chalet "Sonnbergalm" (after about one third of the way)
- Mountain lodge "Rosskogelhütte" (at the end of the trail; from here, the path descents to Stieglreith or Oberperfuss)
- Restaurant Sulzstich or Panoramarestaurant Stiglreith
For experienced hikers, the hike will take between six and seven hours. However, you do not have to master the entire distance in one go.
NEW: It is possible to descent, via St. Quirin, to Sellrain.
The hike can be done in reverse direction as well, from Oberperfuss to St. Sigmund.
Take the post bus to Sellraintal at Innsbruck's Main Station.

High Altitude Trail to the "Miners' House"
Starting in Kühtai, the trail leads via "Oberer Iss Alm" (chalet) to Hochötz, passing through stunning high alpine scenery. It's also a path right into the mining history of the region.
At the entrance of the Wörgetal Valley, history comes alive in the miners' house, which was rebuilt using the original walls. Photographs illustrate the mining history of the region, as well as the history of the alpine pastures along the trail or the regional flora. The path winds through scented pine forests and massive screes, result of ice aged mountain slides.
Hiking time approx. 3 h
