Deer Rutting in the Sellraintal Valley near Innsbruck

During one week in the year you can experience the fascination of the deer rutting season with a professional guide in the Kühtai Sellraintal region. A unique spectacle of nature amidst the stunning scenery of the Tyrolean Alps. We have put together top packages for the villages Sellrain, Gries and St. Sigmund-Praxmar.

Rutting Week - Programme of activities:

Sunday, 26.09.2010

Welcome reception with hunting horn players and a film presentation entitled "Hunting and Nature".
Start: 8 pm in St. Sigmund village hall with a welcome drink and a gift from Swarovski Optik.

Monday, 27.09.2010

Guided hunting tour and/or themed walk with a gamekeeper and members of the Sellraintal Hunting Association. Wildlife and nature watching in Praxmar or Lüsens with "Swarovski Optik".
Meeting point: 9 am at the Tourist Office in Gries (duration: approx. 4 hours) - own transport must be organised.

Tuesday, 28.09.2010

This day is free to spend as you please.
Starting at 6 pm: fashion show of traditional Alpine dress and hunting attire, and the unique chance to acquaint yourself with the work of a taxidermist. Game specialities from local forests, accompanied by fine wines, will be served in Gasthof Neuwirt in Sellrain. (Food and are drink not included in the price!)

Visitors who register beforehand (at the Tourist Offices in Sellrain, Gries im Sellrain and St. Sigmund - Praxmar ) and are in possession of a guest card can participate in the programme of activities and events FREE OF CHARGE in cooperation with the Sellraintal Hunting Association, the Nordkettenbahn cable car, the Alpenzoo and Swarovski Optik.

Please notice that registrations have to be done not later than 17th of September 2010.
