    Information about the Alpine Rose:
Rhododendron ferrugineum, better known as "Rust-leaved Alpine Rose", belongs to the
family of Ericaceae. The small shrub can reach a height 20 to 120 cm/approx. 8 – 48 inches.
The leaves are glossy on the upside, but the underside is reddish-brown, giving the plant its
name. The pink and red blooms are on the tips of the branches and are shaped like little
    funnels.
